The WHO has declared the Ebola outbreak effectively controlled and contained in Nigeria, a remarkable feat in a country of 170 million people, where there were widely expressed fears of rapid and uncontrolled disease spread. We were teaching a group of 50 health practitioners the basic skills in neonatal resuscitation – an essential skill as more than one million babies die each year when they don’t breathe on their own immediately following delivery. Q&A: How a Private Health Outfit is Helping to Improve Healthcare in Nigeria, One Kidney at a Time
